With students from Northeast HS in Philadelphia and Kosciusko HS, Poland in Gdansk participating in a special student exchange. They are learning about the Solidarity Movement in the 1980's and how average citizens used methods of civil resistance to advance the causes of workers' rights and social change. Even though the government attempted to destroy the movement by imposing martial law and political repression, because of the grit and determination of the people, the Russians forced to negotiate with the people leading to the end of Russian control and to an independent Poland.
